The 12 x 5m heated pool is the centre of outdoor life at Cascaret. The spacious pool deck accommodates many activities - water fun, sun bathing, table tennis, alfresco BBQ meals and bird watching among them. Over 45 species of birds have been identified in the grounds.
In front of the East Wing, landscape architect Anna Andreyeva has transformed the hard standing into a dry garden inspired by the Mediterranean garrigue - the local flora. The garden is designed to thrive in the local climate and soil with minimal irrigation and will be best adapted for climate change.
Part of the upper lawn was rotavated and seeded with vibrant annual and short-lived perennials from the steppe and Mediterranean regions to create an eye popping wildflower meadow. Some of the plants you can see this summer are Common and Californian Poppies, Cornflowers, Viper's Bugloss and Dryers Camomile. Their seeds are the first to come to life after the soil is disturbed or turned over by wild boars, deer or hares, which are frequent visitors.
